What is a lottery registration?

All families can register their GOTR/Heart & Sole participant for their school/site starting November 1st.  Families who register will receive a confirmation email notifying them that they have been entered into the “GOTR Lottery Registration." Once lottery registration closes mid-December, if the number of girls is over 16 for every 3 coaches, the system will run a lottery at your school which will randomly select 16 participants for the team to ensure an equal chance of participation.  Families will be notified of their participant's status regardless.  Your credit card will ONLY be charged when your participant is confirmed for the spring season on or close to December 13th.  If there are no more spots available, your child will be put on a waitlist. If a spot becomes available, it will be offered in order of participants registered on the waiting list. Any participant who was not selected will be given a guaranteed spot for the following season.

Why is my site on a waitlist?

The team ratio is 3 coaches to 16 participants to ensure that our programs can safely accommodate each participant and coach both in an indoor and outdoor space and for team dynamics. Practices will be held outdoors unless there is inclement weather. Quality programming and safety are our top priority, therefore, it is imperative that we have the appropriate amount of coaches per team.

What is the refund/withdrawal policy?

If you need to withdraw from the program, we will provide a refund minus a $25 registration processing fee for cancellations up until the start of the first lesson. Once the season begins through the second week of the season, we will provide a refund based on the number of lessons attended, materials received, and processing fee. Once the third week of the season begins, we will process refunds for only extenuating circumstances including medical emergencies.

My girl isn't a big runner; is this program for her? OR My girl is already a skilled runner. Is this program for her?

Yes! We are much more than a running program, and every participant can benefit from the experience of building confidence through accomplishment while participating in our rich, curriculum-based, age-appropriate, interactive lessons. Expect lots of games, talking, laughing and processing in addition to running at each practice. And know that when we say run, we mean run, walk, skip, roll or push, just as long as you are moving foward!

My daughter has a physical/sensory/intellectual disability. Can she participate?

Yes! Girls on the Run fosters an inclusive environment and offers the opportunity for girls with ALL abilities to participate in our program. Coaches are provided with curriclum adaptations to our lessons in their coach guide. Click here to learn more.

We can't afford the program registration fee, but our child would love to participate. How does the scholarship program work?

Don't let cost stop you from participating! We are committed to making Girls on the Run accessible to all who want to particpate! Thanks to generous donors and community supporters, program scholarships are available to any family who needs it. The online registration form will walk you through a few questions to find the fee that is right for your family based on a sliding scale.

Do girls need to attend both days each week in order to register?

Yes! Since most of our teams fill up quickly, if your girl will be unable to attend all the sessions, please save room for a girl who can, and consider joining us in a future season when she can enjoy the entire program.

Is there a way for me to sponsor a participant for a season?

Yes! As a mission-driven 501(c)3, Girls on the Run relies on generous donors in order to provide more than $60,000 in program scholarships for families in need. Click here to sponsor a participant this season.
